*Officials say a professor accused in a deadly campus shooting in Alabama filed a complaint last year alleging gender discrimination by the university. *

so…then…why did she shoot 2 women and try to shoot another woman?

BRAINTREE, MASS. – Massachusetts prosecutors have just announced that they have found the missing files in the 1986 shooting death of Amy Bishop’s brother, and that she could have been charged with assault and weapons crimes.

I want them to uncover the cover up!

Funny how those “missing” files just suddenly turned up. Only in Massachusetts!

Didn’t want to be a hypicrite? Equal Opportunity Killer?

It will be an interesting story about how they ended up there…

Wonder if mother had anything to do with that…

If so, could reset the clock on statute of limitations if conspiracy to conceal is proven…

Going back to the bizzare paper in that obscure journal. It is not referenced in Pubmed -that’s why I could not find the paper!

I’m not sure it was done to of impress someone. The kids were affiliated with a “company”. Let’s assume Amy and her husband created this company to commercialize some of her inventions, and to do some proof-of-principle experiments on a shoestring budget, they used the kids to do cell counting, etc. basically, child labor! I’m not sure if any labor laws were violated in this case, but I have never seen a biotech company being classified as a “family business”. Perhaps, the publication served as a “compensation tool”.

bluealien, there were already some links posted a few pages back with reactions from people who knew Amy and her brother in high school.

ABC News Nightline just did its opening piece summarizing the case to date.

Is it normal to keep a husband from communicating with a jailed wife in such a case? Or are they trying to keep them from synching up their stories???

As this woman rots away the remainder of her miserable life in prison, I hope somehow they can prohibit her from speaking to the media in any way, shape or form. I hope she never, ever has a forum to attempt to in any way justify what she has done. I don’t remember the specifics, but I know that the media no longer has access to Charles Manson, and I certainly hope they will never have access to this woman. The people she shot never had a chance and my heart goes out to their poor families. I cannot even fathom the depth of their grief.

It says he hasn’t been completely cleared as a suspect as an accomplice or in a conspiracy.

“The people she shot never had a chance and my heart goes out to their poor families. I cannot even fathom the depth of their grief.”

In addition, imagine the grief of others who were at that meeting, and of the faculty and students at that department. I can’t imagine that any of them ever want to walk into that building again.

I also imagine all of them losing trust for people in general.

How about Charlize Theron for the movie?

Been there, done that for Charlize. I don’t think she’d want to get typecast.

I hope they fry her for what she did.

I think Sandra Bullock could play a good Amy Bishop.

Did anyone notice, in the link to the story about her filing a gender discrimination suit with the university, that she was not represented by an attorney but chose to represent herself?? That’s very – nuts. Well, maybe not nuts, but certainly silly and full of hubris. What does a biology professor know about employment discrimination law?

She clearly thinks she knows everything.

I have to giggle. At 450 posts we wondered how long the thread would last. Then the IHOP incident and it is only a day and 100 posts later.

My heart goes out to those whose lives are irreparably changes by this, including the families of those injured and killed, and those in the conference room who will have to live with the memories of the shooting.

I also feel sorry for the students who are like the nursing student quoted in the article. She could put on a good act, and there are students and faculty who will not be able to believe that “this good woman” could do such a thing. I am sure the defense will be looking to line up those “stunned” by her actions when the temporary insanity plea is being used.
