‘… at the time of the incident the DA’s office never had knowledge of all the evidence …’

I have to laugh at this one. The angriest I ever saw an Executive in my company was after he’d been told something that forced him to act. BTW, isn’t this Tony Hayward’s defense regarding the gulf spill? ‘I wasn’t aware.’

*I’m not in favor of people getting away with murder, literally, but I can’t imagine how you have a fair trial of this matter 25 years after the fact. *

I wonder if there ever will be a trial. They seem to be deferring to Alabama first.

And, the DA’s office is just lying about what they “didn’t know.”

"MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The biology professor charged with killing three Alabama university colleagues in a shooting rampage attempted suicide in jail early Friday, a source told The Associated Press.

Amy Bishop, 45, survived and has been returned to a cell at the Huntsville jail after treatment at a hospital, the source said. Other details were not given.

So let’s take a lot of care and resource to make sure that the person can stand trial and be convicted for capital murder so that we can properly execute her after long and lengthy trial and being in death row for years. I guess everyone is innocent until proven guilty but it is still a little ironic.

BTW, I don’t think we can fully understand the current DA on the indictment until we really know the full story of what new evidence has come out through the new inquest. The current record is being sealed by a judge.

The parents are sticking by with the accidental shooting story making various accusations against the police and the DA but offers no explanation for the inconsistencies and incriminating behavior after the shooting.

Her husband apparently is in the dark about the suicide attempt and went on record that no one would return his calls when he heard she had been hospitalized. It happened early Friday morning, she was hospitalized, treated and returned to her cell.

^^ not surprising. If a hospital admits someone because of a suicide attempt, until all the signatures are in place, they may be reluctant/forbidden to discuss the details or even acknowledge admitting her with anyone. Same may apply for prison too.

Mostly more of the same, the parents were instrumental in protecting Amy and the police simply went along with it. The gun was discharged without Amy’s hand on the trigger is just classic.

This was one of CC’s longest threads that I can remember on something like this. It looks like it won’t get much longer, because there won’t be a trial: Amy Bishop has pleaded guilty.

On Sunday, one of the surviving shooting victims (a friend of ours) said that if she didn’t choose this route she would have gotten the DP. It was predicted that she would plead guilty to save her kids from the trial aspects and from having their mom on death row.

I’m not sure if LWOP has visitation. I don’t think DP inmates have visitation.

Anyway, she is seriously mentally ill, and it’s shocking that someone so ill can carry-on a life - marry, have 4 kids, get a PhD, and have a good job.
