I received my housing assignment in the mail today and i was very disappointed when i found out it was shoreland.....:( i wanted to live in bj really badly :((((( so um would any one from bj be willing to switch their place in bj for my room at shoreland? it says in the letter that changes could be made after 3 weeks of the autumn quarter pass.... :(
anyone please ? :(
desperate :(

That's not how changes work. You need to put yourself on the BJ waitlist.

Thank God! I wanted Shoreland really badly but I turned my info in late so hopefully there is still a chance...

If you put down Shoreland #1, you'll probably get it. It usually has some room left. Of couse, you'll probably know for sure soon.

I haven't gotten my room assignment yet, and I live in Hyde Park. Stupid Chicago mail...

By the way, Shoreland is an awesome dorm! I have gone over there for swing dancing classes, and the first time I entered it felt like I had just walked into a castle. It is a bit run down, but there is no lack of high ceilings and pictures from the old days when it was a hotel.

........unless Katie here is a liar, liar, bra on fire.

Oh, thank you, Eric. No, I am not lying; you should see it when you come to Chicago.

If it is any consolation, if one is in the Shoreland there is a good chance one will be eating at BJ, at least when one eats...

I know many students whose first choice was not the Shoreland who now would live no other place.

Equally cheery, the Shoreland is being replaced by a new dorm being built just south of BJ. So if you live in BJ for the next few years, you'll probably be subject to the wonderful sounds and sights of construction work.

I hope that I get my first choice, Max palvesky

Crap - nerdygeek, when did you send in your housing deposit? My 1st choice was BJ (didn't have Shoreland down at all) but I think I sent mine in too late (April 15th). I really want to live on campus first year...

haha, I sent mine even later

Haha, same here. I sent mine in sometime in May.

i sent mine around the 20th. think there's any room left in max p or pierce? >_<

i slept in shoreland during prospy weekend. it seems a bit rundown but the rooms ARE huge. but it kinda seemed a bit dim and shady (as in lighting) to me. and the whole traveling by bus to campus thing seemed annoying for me : p

I sent mine feb. 12th... so I BETTER GET BJ!!!!

I sent mine in on January 3rd, I believe. My dad is leaving me in suspense, as he is holding the letter! I put down Snell-Hitchcock as my first choice; I hope I get a single.

I'm in Shoreland, 2 bedroom suite quad apt.

Even though I didn't list it as one of my choices, I'm happy :) - I guess

BTW I'm not surprised, I sent mine in late beacuse my fin aid decision was wayyyyyyyyy late.

Ok, for those of us EA who didn't get our top choice, that is BS> I am sure I will like the Shoreland, but I wanted on-campus housing for my first year.

how does a 1 bedroom triple apartment at shoreland look like?

the one i stayed in during prospy week had its own kitchen, a living room-type area, and a big bedroom with 2 beds (bc the 3rd roommate left or something so they took away her mattress) and a private bathroom in it.
