Well Id rather not be locked in. I forget which is which. Is one more selective than the other? Other schools I was considering are U of Pitt, U of Arizona, and UNC.

UNC is EA, so maybe go that route. Except UNC out of state is uber-competitive, so ED at UVA would be the safe choice I guess. Unless you can do EA at U of Arizona and Pitt too.

Arizona and Pitt are rolling admission. Argh. Its a big choice to be locked in. Do you think I could get into UVA ED or normal anyway? Also, if I did EA at UNC now, would I get their answer before the ED appliaction for UVA is due?

Hmm. You definitely have to choose between UVA ED or UNC EA. I would be betting on a reject at UVA IF you were OOS, but since you are in state, I can't really say. As for UNC, a girl from my school last year with a near perfect (most advanced classes) transcript, 31 ACT, and amazing ECs got rejected form UNC OOS, but I don't know if she did EA. Since you can do rolling at Pitt and UArizona (if I'm not mistaken), the issue is only which school (UVA or UNC) you would rather be at, unless being free to choose means that much to you. Is financial aid an issue? Because if it is, ED is not always a great way to go. Since EA at UNC is open, I woudn't expect a huge advantage to going early, whereas there would be a substantial advantage at UVA since it is binding.

Do you know when UVA sends back their reply for ED? Also, my friend got into UVA with about the same GPA as mine and had a 1260/1880 on his SATs. I guess I can apply to the schools I want and then see what UVA says. Is William and Mary EA or ED?

I dunno about W+M, but be very careful about assuming things based on your peers experiences. But if restricting applying bugs you, just do UNC EA plus the rolling schools.

I know not to assume, but I think I'm a pretty good candidate for UVA. The only bad spot is the 560 on the SAT 2 but I dont think they really care about those. Plus the area I come from is ranked pretty high for school systems and difficulty.

Are you not in need of any financial aid? Because if you apply ED you are agreeing to go to that school whether or not they offer you any need based or merit based financial aid...

Do you think having taken the Lit SAT 2 test would make a difference? If I took it at the next test date the score wouldnt be done until Nov. 2 which is a day after the deadline.
