I recently received an NROTC scholarship, placed at Cornell University. However, the scholarship does not come with acceptance to the school, and although my SAT scores more than meet Cornell’s requirements (I got a 2260 on my SAT and a 1500 on just the critical reading/math), as do my grades (I’m in the top 10% of my class) and my extracurricular activities (I captain two varsity sports and am an officer of two clubs. I also have a job, play a third varsity sport, and am a member of many other clubs) I’m very concerned I won’t be able to get into Cornell.
Should I go ahead and request to be added to the wait list for my second choice school? I’m worried that if I request to be moved in March when Cornell releases acceptances there won’t be a spot left at my second choice, or even my third.
I know if I request to move my placement and am put on the wait list at another school, I won’t lose the placement I have at Cornell, but what I’m not sure about is if I’m moved off the wait list for the other school and am given a placement there, do I lose the Cornell placement? Because if that’s the case I don’t want to request to be put on the wait list in case I do get into Cornell
What should I do?
