Should I Apply now?

So I know that extracurricular a don't matter too much to Penn state so I'm not going to mention those

1890 SAT
600 Reading
720 Math
570 Writing
Super score my writing improves to 590
So...1910

GPA wise I don't know 4.0 scale but on a scale of 100 my weighted GPA is 90.83 ish

:/ not very good stats huh...

Well I wa planning on going to the engineering school in university park.
I know it's hard to get into.

Questions 1:
What are my chances?
Question 2:
If I apply to the engineering school and don't make it does that mean I get rejected from the school as a whole?
Or does that mean I get put into a different school and can transfer in if I get good grades first semester or something like that

By different school I mean school that is still in main campus

Your odds are pretty low if you apply to Engineering at University Park, so you should apply very soon (Rolling means that the earlier you apply, the better for you) and put “Behrend” as your second starting campus. You can improve your odds by indicating you’re willing to start in the summer. If you’re rejected from UP, you can ask if they’d consider your application for undecided, but that means you’d complete your engineering degree in 5 years since you’d be taking classes outside of engineering in addition to some of the engineering prereqs.

I’d also note that PSU does not superscore any test. The standardized tests are based on the best score from one sitting. My daughter has already applied but as undecided and indicated she’d also be willing to go in the summer. I’ve read that gives you the best chance at Main Campus - then you can always change your major later.

I would apply undecided. My friends that are in the engineering school here all had very high stats. I also would note to include a list of your activities in the application, even though it is not required. Many people think that Penn State does not care about extracurricular activities, but that is just not true. They may not put as much weight into them, but they are defiantly taken into account. My scholarship at Penn State was given to me based off of my activities, so I can tell you first hand that it is something that they do look at. My sat score was the same as your without the superstore but my act score was what I sent as it was a lot higher. Have you considered taking the ACT in November? You could submit your application now, but since you are on the line you probably will not hear back right away. A good thing to do is add an ACT score into the mix. Everyone that I know did significantly better on the ACT than the SAT. I submitted by ACT score after I sent in my applications and sat scores last year. If you have any question feel free to ask me. I know it is a really stressful process, and I was in your position last yea. I would like to help in any way that I can to make it easier.
