Hi guys! As most of you know, the email for the UCSC Honor's Program Application was sent out to some prospective students not too long ago. I'm trying to decide for myself whether I should apply to the Honor's College. With a 4.08 UC weighted GPA, 2200 SAT, and a 33 ACT, UCSC was really only a safety school for me. I already got into Irvine, and people are telling me I'm a good bet for San Diego, Davis, and Santa Barbara. Should I apply anyways? It certainly looks good to be part of the Honor's Program, but if I'm probably not going to go would it be a waste of time?

In life you often must do a cost/benefit analysis. Same here. What is the cost of applying in terms of time and bother? What is the expected benefit in terms of your probability of going to UCSC, and the advantages of being in the program.?

One way to look at this – knowing what you know now (admission to UCI, etc) would you apply to UCSC if you were applying now?

Our son is in the same position as you, and given the other acceptances he has received, he decided not to apply for the UCSC Honors Program and not to apply for a UCSC Regents Scholarship.

Thanks for the tip!

Do it, I just submitted my application…took about 15 minutes and some thinking about my future.
Free money right???
