How high do your scores have to be to get into these programs??? I have 1410 old sat and a 2040 new one. Do you have to have hours and hours volunteering in the medical field. I prolly won't apply but was just wondering as an option.

Having high scores and experience in the medical field are big boosts. You need to show a passion for medicine.

i agree with studyguy.

High test scores themselves won't get you in. Nor will hours upon hours of volunteering in a hospital (I only had about 24 hours when I was admitted to Northwestern's HPME) I think it's about the whole package - truly exhibiting a passion for medicine and a complete conviction that medicine IS what you want to do for the rest of your life. You also have to show that you are ready for the rigorous curriculum and the challenges of the medical field, and that you possess the maturity and compassion to be a good doctor. That is what the high test scores/volunteer experience/essay/interview should convey to the adcoms.

Best of luck!
