I have been in CC for quite some time due to being unsure of what major I wanted (I still am not 100% happy but I just want to start working before I die of old age or become unemployable). I finally can transfer soon into business administration(with a focus on accounting or finance) but since I'm so cheap and fear debt (as well as fear using any of my financial assets I have saved) I'm going to what most people would call a low tier back up school (SJSU since its close and its the best of the 3 California Bay Area CSUs). Will I be doomed when it comes to finding a job or am I wasting potential with my life? My GF is starting to apply pressure on me to just finish up already and I'm getting tired of school so I want to just get it over with.

Plenty of people get hired in Silicon Valley with degrees from SJSU. Finishing as soon as possible with as little debt as possible actually sounds like a good idea. There are far worse places to graduate from.

“Soon as possible” it’s a little too late for that, I’m nearing 23… Luckily I know people who can vouch for me that I kept busy (work wise). That’ll help right?

Few employers care about why you took so long to get your degree, as long as you kept your nose clean. I had a friend who didn’t graduate until 28 and had 220 credit hours by the time he graduated because he kept changing majors so often.

They are going to look at your GPA and degree, and ask you a few questions about your experiences and what you can offer. If they like you, they offer you the job. Quite frankly, given the work habits of today’s 22 year-olds, many employers prefer a slightly more mature applicant. Being 25 or so may work in your favor.

Did your friend graduate with multiple degrees?

No. Just computer science. But when you bounce around several engineering disciplines, plus a few social sciences, you build up lots of useless credits. I suspect with a few more classes, he could have had about three degrees.

I’ve been in Community College so long I WILL transfer with almost 5 Associates degrees. Will those make good toilet paper?
