Should I be nervous that I haven't gotten a decision yet

I applied on about January 29th or so (a couple of days before the deadline). I am beyond freaking out right now. Why haven't I received a decision yet? Do you think it is because of the date that I applied and rolling admissions? If I don't get into UConn, I am screwed.

Unless you have really great stats, I'd say it's not looking good. There have been many waitlisted and denied applications (with good stats) in the past couple of months worth of notifications.

Actually I just saw your stats on the other thread. They're very good, you probably have a decent chance unless they already hit their quota.

Hang in there.

I think their notification date was supposed to be March 15, but that could be the target date for mailing. Why don't you shoot the admissions office an email or call them? They probably won't give you a decision, but they can tell you if it's been mailed, etc. Do it today before they go home for the weekend.

The UConn website says RD notification is anywhere from early March to mid April.

thanks alot for the advice. I just called and they said that all my materials were received but it hadn't been reviewed and that I can expect a decision within the next three weeks.

I'm told it doesn't mean anything if you haven't heard yet. Don't worry.

Wow that's rough. Hang in there... the suspense will be over soon.

D finally heard today--accepted into the honors program.

t's now april 6 and still no decision.

It's still within the three weeks they told you a while back until April 10 though.

Call them but don't worry. It took forever for them to process my daughter's application. It's a big school with lots of paperwork to manage.

i applied in early december and still haven't heard. when i called they said they hope to tell me by april 15th. its killing mee

You have to wonder about a school that may be so administratively inept that they can't process applications to get decisions out to people by April 1st. Nearly every other school in the country,(even those that get multiple tens of thousands of apps) are able to notify people by April 1. They don't have a way to check your status online, and they don't respond to emails sent to the admissions dept. Their application fee @ $70 is the highest that I saw. If this is the way they treat prospective students, I'd like to see how they treat enrolled students.

I don't know if they have laid people off in admissions, but I doubt they've hired any anybody new to deal with what is no doubt a bigger job than ever before. I see the same stories about waiting for a long time about UMass. We can probably expect these schools to operate less efficiently for the foreseeable future, but I don't think we can just call it ineptness.

It must have been a bummer for my son on wear your college logo to school day. He wore an EXPRESS shirt :(

My D applied to UCONN mid January. Waitlisted as of today. Big mistake applying so late.

what are her sat scores and whatnot if you don't mind me asking.

Not a question of her SAT's, they were on the high end of their range. GPA 3.8. She spoke with AO today - not a question of her credentials as she's well qualified. It was a question of room. She applied to late. Others in her class with lower SATs, GPAs were admitted but applied much earlier. She would have been admitted to the Storrs campus, not one of the branches.

NEMOM72 - Space is definitely an issue. Did you see the 60 Minutes segment this past Sunday where they were at Swarthmore and UCONN? In the UCONN segment, they showed residence life staff trying to determine how to get 4 people in a room formerly occupied by 2. It may have been an exaggeration, but I'll bet it's harder to get a single in Storrs this coming fall. Best wishes to your D on her other choices.......
