should i bother applying?

i dont live in michigan, and i won't be able to afford out of station tuition. my efc is pretty low but i heard uofmich has virtually no aid for out of state students, so my question is, should i bother applying?

If you have the academic credentials to get in, and assuming you really like the school, it is worth applying. Otherwise, it may not be worth it.

Agree, if you are at the top of the heap stats-wise apply - if Michigan is one of your favorites - and see what happens come spring. Being able to compare financial aid packages is something a high percentage of kids have to do. Just make sure you have a financial safety on your list that you are willing to attend.

While OOS financial aid may not be the best, it does exist. If your EFC is under 5,000, you could get a decent financial aid package. If you think you have a shot at getting in, I see no harm in trying. Best of luck to you in your search and final decision!

yea, if i have to pay 10k tutition each year, i’m not gonna go, i just don’t think its worth it.

actually jk i will be lucky to even get 10k tuition lol

Michigan has historically been less than generous with OOS students. However, the current multi-billion fund raising campaign is aimed at improving financial aid. I would definitely apply if you feel strongly about the University.

Did you check the NPC?

i checked npc, and it’s 9k each year, but i highly doubt i will get this generous aid.

If you are sure you did not input any error and your parents are not self employed, it should be a reasonable estimate. They do provide generous aids to low income OOS students like you. Now the question is whether you will be accepted.

ah ok, i will try applying then, thanks
