I'm part of the National High School Scholar Society--there's a minimum GPA to get in, etc. and a supposed "academic nomination" involved and...of course, a $40 fee. My parents paid for it way back when...should I even put in on the EC list or is it really not worth much?

no, dont put it in

No, that's a scam for ignorant parents and students.

Thanks for the input, PatM1401.
And uh...thanks, I guess, Sligh_Anarchist lol.

No. Anything that requires you to pay doesn't mean anything...just that you can afford to pay the fee :( Sorry...but that's the truth...I got all of that stuff in the mail, all asking for a fee for this and that... and "oh...what an honor it is to get in"...

That organization was discussed at length last year on CC- search for the thread to see the details: it is a for-profit business, they give very few scholarships of small amounts, hold a few info sessions, and pay their executives hefty salaries.

This type of business is known as a 'vanity' honor--similar to Who's Who for students-except WW tries to sell you expensive souvenirs of your honor, but does not charge a fee for membership. Both groups "invite" thousands and thousands of students to join, negating any cachet or exclusivity.
