Should I bother trying to transfer?

I'm a current 2nd year undergraduate at a large state school who wants to get into investment banking eventually.

Profile:
Triple major with a minor
College GPA: ~3.9 after this semester(out of 4.0, A+ = 4.0, A=4.0, A-=3.7, etc)
Numerous EC including Research Assistant including coauthor of paper, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Fraternity, Honors Fraternity, community service.
Credits: 127 hours, including multiple graduate classes, After this semester

I would like to transfer to an ivy league school, but don't know if the amount of hours I have will hurt me or if I have a chance even.

i think those hours will kill you. yale/harvard say not to bother applying if you have more than 2 year’s (60 credits) worth done. not sure about the rest, but i think you’d run into some problems. how did you get that many so fast?? i thought i had a lot (110 after summer), but you completely beasted me haha

I had summer classes, back credit, and ap credits(not sure if these should be counted). Also I’d be willing to be a year behind, aka graduating in 2013 to get the full 2 years at the new institution, or transferring in the spring semester.

what do you mean by “Back Credits”?

I don’t think AP Credits will be counted against you.

Even if your amazing course load disqualifies you, you are going to be a great candidate for grad school. If I were you, I would hold out - keep up the research and the grades and attend a top grad school.

sadly, it’s not up to you whether or not you’re willing to give up credit :frowning:

but i think neu2nu made a great suggestion: keep up the good work, show your interest in a variety of different areas, and set yourself up for grad school!

At my current school, AP credits are not true credits. They count for taking the course, but don’t count toward graduating…

So maybe I made an assumption based on my limited experience…

You should also look into what grad schools think about students that graduate early!

AP credits, here, count as true credits but with no gpa attached. Also, by back credit I meant I took a second year foreign language without the first year prereq and I got the prereq as a transfer credit with no gpa attached.

But I’m probably just gonna try to get into a top grad school. Saves money that way anyways. Thanks for all the help.
