I have completed all the nursing pre reqs at my community college except microbiology. Today, I went to the transfer center and was told that I need to complete microbiology by fall to be able to apply but I already have my schedule set and the microbiology classes are full.
My science grades for nursing aren’t great either.
Anatomy-B
Physiology- C
Chemistry- B
My overall gpa is a 3.3
I’m not sure I’d get an A in microbiology anyway and I don’t think I’d be competitive at all.
I was hoping to transfer to cal state La for fall 2018 as a nurse major but the lady at the transfer center also told me that only CSULA and CSULB take nursing transfers? Is that true? I’m not sure I understood but I think my chances are slim.
I also have an interest in psychology but I’m not sure what kind of career I could pursue with a psychology degree.
I would like some advice as I am sort of lost now.
Thank you!
Here is a link for all the Cal States that take Nursing Transfers and no it is not just limited to CSULA and CSULB. I would look into Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, East Bay and Stanislaus since are all Cal States are impacted for their nursing programs but not as heavily as CSULA or CSULB.

Also check to see if Microbiology needs to be completed by Fall or by Spring for transfer. Each campus may have different requirements.
All you can do is apply and have a backup plan just in case. If you pursue Psychology, you would need to consider attending Grad school so something to consider.
Also many community colleges have articulation agreements with the local Cal States, so that may be why the advisor stated only CSULA and CSULB would be your Nursing school options.
I assume you are working on your ADN? Have you considered sitting for the NCLEX exam and getting your license, working a year to two and then trying to transfer into a BSN program?
All the information I have found regarding having your Science pre-req’s completed by application time is not correct. CSULB states on their website, that you can have some of the pre-req’s in progress but maybe the advisor thinks you would be a stronger candidate by having all these pre-req’s completed during the Fall application period.
Another option would be to transfer as a Psychology major and complete your 4 year degree, then apply for an accelerated Post-Bac Nursing program. It will take you longer but another way to get your BSN.
