Ok, so I decided to take BA 101 (introduction to Business) My adviser said not to take this class since my schedule work load was already pretty heavy but I just went with it. Man, I should have listened to her. I have no idea on whats going on in the class. I have a 79 and I know that I failed the midterm. The class has nothing to do with my major. I’m majoring in Computer Science. I took 13 credits last term (my lowest grade being a B+) and if I drop this class I will be taking 12 this term. If I drop now I think that I will get a “W” on my transcript. It’s a shame that this happened and I have only myself to blame, but what would be the best option for me? I just don’t want this to affect my GPA because It would be a big hit If i were to fail it. I’m a freshman by the way.
12 credit hours doesn’t sound like much in the first place. We engineering students routinely face 15-18 credit hours a semester.
Obviously I don’t know the specifics of the course, but just judging by the name, it seemed as though it’d be rather easy relative to the rigor of a Comp Sci major – (unless it was Wharton or something.) The unexpected rigor of it is unfortunate. I’m sorry that you’re struggling with it.
I took 12 credits last semester so that I could “ease in” to college - I’m currently taking 17 and I’ve found that I can handle it a lot better because of my “transition” semester. Do you have any AP credits to act as a buffer? You can still graduate on time if you have enough credits to compensate for any disparities.
A W is better than an F (or a D, or even a C- in some cases.)
Good luck.
Before you make any decisions, I would talk to your professor, see how many more points are available for the semester, what you can be doing differently, if there’s any extra credit papers you could do.
