I am currently a senior in high school. I have all A's in my classes except Advanced chemistry honors. When I decided to take this course I didn't think it would be as hard if I put effort into studying. I also wanted to challenge myself. It is only the first half of the first marking period but I already want to drop the class. I have a 65 average which is horrible I know. By the end of the marking period the highest I think my grade will go up is to a C. Right now I am stressed out about SAT's and applying to colleges. I also take precalc which is an honors class and it is stressful as well. I'm under a lot of pressure to do good and I'm afraid to fail my chemistry class. Some schools I will be applying to are FIU, Rutgers, Montclair and some schools in Georgia near Atlanta. Fiu is definitely my first choice. I want to apply to colleges in December but I know doing bad in chemistry honors will look bad on my applications. My guidance counselor said that even though the first marking period has barely come to an end, it will still show on my transcript if I decide to drop the class. I really don't know what to do at this point. I have a 94.8 average which is a 3.4 weighed gpa. Fiu requires students to have 3.3 minimum gpa and I think chemistry is going to ruin that for me. What do you guys suggest? Should I drop the class or will this look even worse?
