This was not the year for me to try for schools. It was too rushed, my mom and I were clueless about the process and my grades weren't nearly as good as they could have been. Even though I have good EC's and did well on my SSAT's, along with great interviews, I didn't get accepted anywhere. This was a huge disappointment and next year, I will go to the upper school division in my K-12 Private school. I applied to Taft, Choate, Noble and Greenough and Peddie and none accepted me. I was upset, I'll admit it, but should I even re-apply? I've heard that some schools don't appreciate it when people re-apply but others do? And it's about time for me to be getting prepared to re-apply, if I do! Would it just be a waste of time if I did?
Thanks in advance!
Blaine :)

In my opinion, if you know that you can’t get as far attending your local school, then definitely apply again next year. Make sure you work extremely hard next year, though. As for what the schools appreciate, who cares?! If you really want to attend those schools, apply to all of them again! Maybe even apply to more schools. At least next time you’ll be more prepared, and you’ll know to start the application process a bit earlier.

In the end, it’s all up to you, but I say you should definitely go for it.

If you look at the threads, there are plenty of people who get good results in the second time around. I don’t think schools don’t appreciate it.
Keep your grades up, have a passion, then prepare early, make a strong package next fall.
Best of luck to you,

I think you should reapply if you think that you belong at boarding school! A lot of schools are really impressed to see candidates that apply twice because it shows a committed interest in the school! And if a school doesn’t like to see people reapply, it can’t hurt because you wouldn’t have gotten in anyway. Do you have any idea why you weren’t accepted? You can try to improve that aspect of your application for next year

No try applying for less know boarding schools it helps a lot go for the smaller ones.

You have plenty of time to think about it, but of course you can interview and apply again. If you felt rushed last year, maybe you should look at other schools (in addition to those you’ve already applied to). You never know- you might find you’re looking for something completely different five months from now and this all happened for a reason.

Reboot the mission and look at everything with a new set of eyes. Maybe this Fall you’ll want to add a few new schools to the itinerary. Maybe those schools will turn out to be the ones who have been looking for you all along.

I wish you all the best.

When you’re ready go to the Hidden Gems Thread. ThisOneKid put together a terrific list complete with links. It might be a great place to start anew.

As a successful reapplier (not a word, I know), I would encourage you to reapply if you truly feel that it would benefit you. I really did feel that way last year, and therefore was determined to reapply and be accepted the second time around, and it really does get so much easier. Instead of being all flustered and nervous, I was confident and the process was so much easier because I had already done it all before! There are a lot of successful reapplying stories on CC in other threads and you have so many options! Best of luck to you. :)

I’d say definitely re-apply. I am a re-applier too and was successful this year in getting in two of my favorite schools! Since you have the experience of applying now, the process will be smoother, easier and less rushed. Good luck!

Yes! You should reapply. There will be a lot more time for preparing and you already have some experience.

Definitely! It was a happy ending for my son, who didn’t get in the 1st year for 9th, but did the next year for 10th. He worked really hard to pull his grades up in the meantime, and it sounds like you should concentrate on that as well.
