Should I get out of AP???

ok...here's the deal...next year (senior), I'm scheduled to take AP english, AP Bio, and AP Macro-econ...so for the AP english class we had a summer reading list...I did the reading but I haven't started on the Essays...OF COURSE I can complete them before the first day of school (next Monday)...but some how I left the assignment sheet at the library this past weekend so now I don't remember the essay topics/motifs...I asked someone to bring the list to band practice tomorrow so I could make a copy but I doubt they'll remember...so my question is...Should I drop out of AP English and go into Advanced Lit so I won't risk starting out the year with a low grade...or should I stick it out???...only thing stopping me is the fact that I lost the assignment sheet...uggghh...why GOD, WHY did I procrastinate...I was so busy this summer that I didn't commit myself to my work...I know I'll be focused during the school year...

Call up someone else in the class and ask them what it is, or something like that.
By the way, do all all AP english classes in the country have to read the same stuff for summers?

King Oedipus, King Lear, The Bible, Mythology...read them all...

only things I remember from the damn sheet is an essay on why King Lear and King Oedipus are considered dramas...and something about the motif of Good and Evil in the plays...there were 2 more motifs...I can't believe I lost that crap...I had it ALL summer and then lost it the LAST week...

"By the way, do all all AP english classes in the country have to read the same stuff for summer?"

No

Just call someone...It's not that hard. Don't you have any friends taking it?

no dont worry about starting out with low grades, our ap english teachers always give us crazy hard tests at the beggining of the year and everyone fails (and they dont curve it). But everyone does good in the class in the end.

OEDIPUS? i read that in 10th grade. mythology was 9th grade wasn't it? anyway, dont drop an ap just b/c you haven't written a few essays. call someone or just bring up your grade during the year...

yea...like everyone I know is scheduled for AP English but they're dropping out of the class lol...thanks for the advice but I think I'm going to drop AP English and stick to the other 2 AP courses...plus my gifted courses...and go to Advanced British Lit...I don't think I can handle 3 APs PLUS band which practices until 8pm...I know I'm gonna slack off my senior year so I'll just handle the situation now...

someone I know didn't do the summer reading for AP English last year and started with a 52 in the class...and had to pull it up to a C

well thats them and you are you. you read didnt you? honestly i wouldn't drop it. i would try it out first and then dropped it if i had no way of getting a good grade.

and just for the record an AP ENGLISH class (whether its lit or lang) is definetely not required to get at least a four on the actual AP test. so if dont take the class, i suggest you still take the AP test so you get college credit. i'm dispise english and got a 4 on both my ap english tests without reading 1 full book (exception was scarlet letter which was read out loud and i used for all the essays on the tests). the class itself teaches you nothing (or at least it taught me nothing) to help on the test.

i would look to others for hte assignment

I'd stick with the class if I were you. Also, don't compare yourself to other people. Everybody's got different limits. If you honestly believe you can't handle the class, then by all means get out and do honors. Or stick it out for one week and see how it goes. You may really come to enjoy the class.

Furthermore, this is just a beginning assignment. You can easily get it from someone else.

or email the teacher?

lol just ask someone that remembers for the assignment sheet.

yeah haha there's no reason to worry. You have time. I did all the summer homework on Sunday because school started on Monday and I was out of town for 6 weeks and procrastinated the first 4 weeks of summer.
