Should I look for an internship for next month?

Alright well I've been busy this summer and I'm off for the month of August. What should I do for this month for an internship or job? Do places give internships for one month only? Should I start contacting firms near me asking if they would like me to intern in a few weeks for one month? Or should I try to get a job or do some volunteer work? College sophomore looking for something to do. Thank you.

Go to the beach and chillax… Try a road trip… Meet someone special and do like they do on the discovery channel - Backpacking.;)

I need to do something. I relaxed all summer and have no activities that I do so I’m worried.

You probably won’t be able to find paid employment for a month. Try volunteering. What are your career interests?

Economics. Would a paid employment at some minimum wage job look better than volunteering?

No, it wouldn’t look any better. You would essentially have to lie to your interviewer about your departure date – no minimum-wage job is going to hire you for a month (unless it’s during a peak shopping season). As a result, you won’t be able to use them as a reference (because you quit very quickly). It’s expensive to train new employees and your early mistakes are costly.

Why don’t you offer your time to a homeless shelter or some other good deed? You aren’t going to be able to find something lucrative, so just focus on giving back and making the most of your time.
