Hey CC,
So I'm an incoming freshman, and I apologize if this is a stupid question. But I was looking at schedulebuilder trying to plan a good schedule, and I was wondering if it's necessary to put time gaps in between sections in order to get to the next one on time? For example, if something is at 8-10 and another at 10-12, is it possible to get to the second one on time? Because otherwise it seems like it would be quite inefficient with half-hour or hour-long time gaps between classes...
Thanks

At Berkeley there’s “Berkeley time”, which means classes start ten minutes later than scheduled. That means you should be able to make it unless your other class is really far.

Make use of the 10-min Berkeley time.
Whether putting gaps between class totally depends on your preference. Some people like it because they don’t want to rush, they like to arrive class on time for better seat, or they want to take a break after a tough class. Some people dislike it because they think a gap between class is a waste of time. They prefer finishing their classes earlier of the day and go back home earlier.

You’ve got 10 minutes between classes… you might wanna check out the map though, and make sure you’ll be able to make it from one building to another. Li Ka Shing to Haas in 10 minutes really isn’t possible… Dwinelle to Cory you can make if you walk fast, etc. You should be okay with most classes, but some combinations you’ll need more time between.

As all the above users have mentioned, there is “Berkeley time.” Depending on the location of your two classes, it should give you enough time to travel from one class to another. Even if it doesn’t, most GSI’s and professors don’t mind if people come in late.
