Hi
I’m a student wishing to apply to college. I want to submit some of my drawings. But now I’m reconsidering submitting my art because I’ve read on college websites that I should only submit them if I feel they show an exceptional talent. I’ve never really followed any art classes or have participated in any art competitions. I don’t even have great art supplies. I just draw and see what comes out of it.
This is a drawing I did during a long train ride. I know it’s not finished and that it’s quite “rough”. I only had one black blunt pencil and no eraser.
I don’t think I’d send the actual art. They don’t need to see it. You could write about the activity for an essay or submit pieces to contests, though?
Agree. I would not.send in an arts requirement unless it is of exceptional quality. You need to understand that admissions officers are swamped and only want a supplement that can truly add to an application. If there any doubt about the quality of your work ask for an independent assessment of your work (perhaps your HS art teacher). But offhand I don’t think a rough drawing done on a train is what college’s want.
