A couple semesters ago, I got a C in econ when I honestly could've gotten an A. I ended up with a 78-79%, and my professor didn't round up. The thing is, there's no + or -'s in my CC's grading system, so I didn't end up with a C+. Just a solid C.

Even then, I wanna improve my grade because it's also a pre-requisite to pharmacy school.

If I had known I wasn't gonna get the B, I think I might've rather taken a D instead.

But yeah, should I re-take the class?

You aren’t allowed to retake C’s at a CC since it is considered passing. If you transfer you could possibly retake it but they would still count the C (at least that is my understanding of retaking a class you had a C in regards to schools after undergrad) so it wouldn’t do you any good really to retake it.

It all depends on the rules of your CC district. For example, in some district, students cannot retake courses in which students had Cs. But you can retake the course at a CC in another district. As to GPA, you should review academic policies of the pharmacy schools to which you are planning to apply. Some of pharmacy schools count only the first attempt, some average, some acknowledge that you can retake to prove that you could get a higher grade.

Well I know for graduate schools they count EVERYTHING. Even freaking W’s which makes me mad…lol.

I’m not sure if it would do you any good retaking it, but that sucks about your professor not bumping up! Cruel! :/

dude… what?
to my knowledge, there aren’t any CCC’s that will allow you to retake a class in which you received a C.
period.

cite a source, if you know otherwise.

No, there is a Community college by my house that let’s your retake C’s. And I know that for a fact because my transfer center was talking to me about it.

theoretically speaking, let’s say you did end up with a D grade, and then you retook the course and got an A.

Your D will still show up in your transcript, it won’t disappear, from my understanding.

@ andrizzle, correct.
the grade will show up in parentheses on your transcript and below it will read: “course repeated subsequently - grade / units not used”

I recieved a C in Engineering 221 (Electrical Circuits 1) … at a community college … to be transferred to OSU in Oregon in the future.

I plan on retaking the class and am aiming for an A. I understand that a grade at or higher than a ‘C’ cannot be replaced by a higher grade if I retake it. But still, it would demonstrate that I know the material, and the higher grade would appear on my transcript (even though it wouldn’t replace the original ‘C’), right?

The ‘A’ would be visible on the trancsript at least right?

Thanks.

PS: Yeah old thread. I don’t care. It’s a good thread.
