I totally agree with Rosh 420. We should all pursue perfection, but we should all also recognize when "good enough" is good enough. And believe me, your scores are good enough for any college.

Well, my main reason for retaking would be because the college I MOST want to go to requires a 1500+ for a scholarship that I.. really need.. (financial reasons).

Also, I was just shocked that my preparation only resulted in a 60 pt improvement in CR. I didn't do anything for writing and ended up doing best in it :/
So retaking and doing better in CR would also be for my personal.. um... satisfaction..

lerm89, I'll recommend that you after it, if you feel fully prepared. it's a gamble, but one with payoffs, although necessarily one with a HUGE difference. The issue is, though, if you're competing for scholarship or something extremely competitive, then I would recommend that you retake it (if you feel prepared) as most scholarships are granted on the most miniscule of differences. Your scores are really good, but remember that many scholarship competitors have high scores as well, high enough to be in the running.

If you do decide to retake it, good luck. just remember that's a gamble - and don't forget that it's not likely you'll score MUCH lower.

No one is jealous. I just feel that these people start these threads for attention. It gets old and tired. Scores do not get much better than a 2240.

if you need a 1500+ for the scholarship then i say go for it even if it's your 3rd try .. i mean who are other people to say go/not go for it? if you feel unsatisfied go for it.. (but just don't ... do it the 4th time)

focus on the subsection you need to improve on! GOOD LUCK =D

(if it's any encouragement, i raised a 2250 significantly this october and quite ecstatic about it, so it's possible to raise your score late in the game)

I got the same score, 800 M, 770 CR, and 670 W = 2240.
But the thing is, it was a bit lucky since I didn't make stupid mistakes on math and my guesses on critical reading turned out to be right.
Of course, I could stand to go up 50 - 100 points in Writing, but I just don't think it's worth the months of preparation to raise a 2240 to a 2300.

All it takes is some practice with Critical Reading and study a lot of vocabulary.
I went up fifty points from my first to second time and the big difference was definitely in that I knew more 'SAT words'.
Definitely retake it if it's for a scholarship, best of luck!
