Hey all!
I was thinking whether I should retake the SAT this October in an effort to raise my math score. My superscore is currently 2230 with the breakdown being M 720, R 740, and W 770. If I proceed with a retake it will be my fourth time doing so (the first two times were in sophomore year though).

My subject scores breakdown are USH 780 and Lit 750 and I plan on applying ED to either JHU or WashU along with regular decision to Tufts, Emory, Middlebury, and Claremont McKenna. Any thoughts on my current dilemma? Would love some input on this

Fourth time is a little iffy, but I’m retaking it in October despite having similar scores. It’d be good to bring up your math score, and it wouldn’t hurt to try for a 2300. Your subject test scores are great. :)

Your SAT super-score is great so I, personally, wouldn’t worry about it. However, if you have the resources and the time to do so, retaking the test can only help you.

Thanks for the input! Would a fourth SAT retake reflect badly for schools that require all scores to be sent like Tufts?

I have the same superscore as you with different subscores so I looked into retaking it as well. I really wouldn’t. From my research schools start holding it against you after taking it a third time. Also those scores are amazing and probably pretty hard to improve upon. You could email the admissions officer of the schools you’re interested in asking if they would hold a fourth SAT score against you. I was thinking about taking it a third time and the admissions officers I asked said that without significant improvement it really wasn’t worth it.

Put the time you would have spent studying into your essays.

You’re Done. On to the essay. GL
