The thread title pretty much says it: I got a 790 on Physics. The number is real high, the problem is that a 790 is actually something near 90% percentile rank. Think I should retake? I'm applying to top-end colleges like MIT and Caltech etc.

You have got to be kidding me.......

Excuse me? Like, no!

dude, do you guys even know the curve for physics? don't go spewing your advice if you don't even know what you're talking about.

I think you should retake, you have time... because getting an 800 would look better to MIT, Caltech. I think you should send your scores now, and if you do better in December, send them again. Don't send them if you do worse. I'm just a little bit worried that they might see it as being "obsessive," but they should know the curve very well and should know why you're retaking...

But even if you do end up with 790, it's still a good score, so you shouldn't worry insanely :D

kalamity- I have one word of advice for you - relax!

I wish CB would announce a new policy which allow people to trade score to each other. In that case, I really grateful if you give me that score coz i only got 530 Phy in Nov.
===> SERIOUSLY, ARE YOU INSANE ??????

Yes, I'm aware of the physics curve. An 800 vs a 790 will not affect admissions to MIT or Caltech.

Retake? Do you anything better to do? It may signal to adcom that this is the person they should reject. Go check out Jiang Li the perfect SAT scorer.
