On the May test, I got a 740 (math) 740 (critical reading) and a 680 (writing). should i retake them? i am happy with my math and cr scores, but I wasn't too happy with my writing score. However, i am afraid that if i retake the SATs, i could potentially get a lower score on the other sections. what should i do?

You do know that colleges take your highest scre right? If I were you, I would just prep over the summer and retake it.

yes, but they see all of your scores...

just retake it. the way i figure, you havent got anything to lose since they take the best from each category.

i read somewhere that colleges will get suspicious if it takes you more that 3 times to get a good score. you have two more tries... go for it!

Well, if you take it more than 3 times, they stop taking the best of each section and just average the scores.

do they distinguish between the old SAT and the new SAT? let's say you take the old one twice, and you took the new one twice. would that be considered okay or would it be like taking the SAT four times?

i think it counts as 4 times

moni are you serious?
damn that sucks...though i haven't taken any yet
what about SATIIs? i suppose that would be even worse...

Im not sure about SAT IIs because people dont usually take the same one 4x.
But SATs Im pretty positive about.

Go ahead and jus study over the summer to make sure you do better

Exactly. Don't retake it blindly, of course... prepare more this summer, and you won't do worse on Math or CR.

u fail it.

i've never heard about averaging scores thing.. i mean i heard SOME colleges do get suspicious or whatever but i dont think many colleges have a system that they just average your SAT scores.

yeah.. btw, just study hard (and play hard too!) and retake and get a better score. best your luck!

duh is right!

argh, i hate being in class of 2006. maybe it's just me, but the old SAT and the new SAT feel like different tests... we better get some leeway

Im just saying what Ive been told...No one at my school takes it more than 3 times cause we're all scared of them being averaged
