I did a liiiittle better in math by going up two points, but I also went down two points in other sections. I think I could have done better on the science portion because I didn’t take any practice tests and ran out of time for that section.
Overall, my math score (and math grades in school) is always the lowest in comparison to the other sections. Science is not fantastic either and I’m planning on majoring in the science field, most likely biology. So I definitely need to work on showing off my strengths in math and science. Curse my english-oriented brain!
However, I did get a 770 on my Math SAT Subject Test. So should I retake the ACT? Thank you so much for your input!
take it cause a lot of schools superscore, and for you right now, its still a 34.
So getting a 36 on math and a 30 on everything else will pretty much result in a 35.
Youre maxed out in english and reading, so utilize your time doing math/science, because getting a 36 on English is useless. But don’t bomb the english/reading. since you are good at english, you wont get a low score.
Looking at your score, I assume you re applying to pretty nice colleges, most of which superscore. Look into it, but if you’re trying to get a 35 or 36, it is highly doubtful, unless you get a massive stroke of luck.
Tip on math: do only the last 10 problems of math of EVERY practice test you find, either online or in the bookstore. And give yourself 40 minutes to do 60 problems. This advanced thinking might provoke silly mistakes, but I feel that ACT math is fairly straightforward for the most part. I got a 36 easy by knowing the challenging problems. And if you want, practice with SAT math. That is trickier and better, I think, for people like you who understand the gist of the test but mess up on select problems. I got a 800 on math so believe me lol. Props to your 35 on reading, I envy that.
literally the same issue here. I got a 34C on the september one (barely w/ 35E 34M 33R 33S) but I really want to show my strengths in science, because I, too, want to major in biology. I am great at bio and chem, but I skipped physical science so a lot of the motor/electricity sections on the science confuse me. I probably won’t retake it-I’ve heard that there isn’t really a big difference between a 34 and 36 as far as how it looks to colleges, but thats just me.
