Hello everyone, a while ago, I took the ACT and received a score of 35 (36M, 36S, 34E, 32R). However, my writing score was only 24 which seems pretty low compared to my comp. Does writing matter that much and do you suggest retaking the test?
Thanks in advance
ACT knows the writing scores were wonky (which is why they’re changing the scoring). The schools know the ACT writing scores were wonky. Your 24 is actually a good score under the circumstances. Don’t retake for the writing.
No university is going to turn down a 35 ACT simply because the writing score is low - especially this year! Congrats and go work on your college essays now. Good luck to you!
Don’t bother taking it again unless you want to challenge yourself and see if you can get a 36. Colleges don’t care about the essay this year!
