Currently as a sophomore, I am taking 1 AP class, which is World History. My goal was to take 2 this year, but my schedule wouldn’t allow for that, so I have decided to self-study an AP, but I am debating between European History and Statistics.
First question: is there a lot of overlap with AP World and AP Euro? I aim to get at least 4’s on the 2 exams I take, and I want to manage my time for self-studying efficiently without cramming at the last minute.
Next question: Is AP Statistics considered an “easy” exam compared to the others? I have heard from most people that when they took the class, it was a joke, but I don’t want to just flat out believe them without confirmation.
Finally: What are the best review books. From the looks of it, it seems to be Princeton Review, but I’m not sure if it’s best to self-study from a textbook considering I am still in school.
I self-studies world for a 5; it’s fairly easy, just time-consuming to read/memorize the material. There is a decent bit of overlap between euro/world, but obviously euro goes a lot more in-depth. You’ll also already have practiced dbq’s and the other essay styles, which should also make euro a bit easier.
No experience with ap stat, so I can’t comment about it. I’d pick whichever subject you are more interested- it’s hard to learn the material on your own if you don’t care about it.
For self-studying, I recommend Barron’s if you have a lot of time to study- it over-prepares you for the test. 5 steps to a 5 is also very good for more concise and relevant info; same for Princeton review.
OMG, yes!!! Having said that, as a sophomore, what level of math are you studying? My experience taking stats after calculus will be a lot different than if you are in Algebra 2.
There’s not a huge overlap, which, when you think about it, makes sense. APEH focuses on Europe from 1450-present, while APWH covers the entire world from 8000 BCE. So the overlap is at most 30%.
