Should I still take the ACT?

Hi everyone,

I received my May SAT scores and got 2380. I signed up for the ACT on June 9th earlier though, and I think I could do well on it. Should I take the ACT since I've already paid for it and try to enhance my application (would it even)? Or would it even be looked upon unfavorably to take it?

No (if schools require you to send all scores)
Yes (if schools don’t)

That’s already a really high SAT score and most colleges accept either one. You don’t need to take both.

I know, it’s just that seeing as I’ve already paid for it…

@arghwhy

You make a good point.

I guess what I’m trying to ask is, does it help me in any way to take the ACT? Like, does a 2380 + 35/36 (assuming) look better vs just a 2380? Or should I just not risk getting a bad score and enjoy a free Saturday?

I’m leaning toward not taking it, I guess I’m just getting hung up on the money.

It honestly would not enhance your application unless you could get a 36, but even then that would be a very miniscule enhancement. I just thought that since you already paid for it, you could go for it. This is only if schools don’t require you to send all scores.

I think I would take it anyway. You’ve already paid for it and a tiny part of me would always wonder whether I would have aced that one as well. Just a tiny part, but you only have this one shot to find out. If you don’t do as well, it isn’t going to count against you. If you do, it shows a great consistency.

Thanks for your opinions guys. I just took a practice test and got 36/31/35/35 (the 31 was Math… oops) so I’m going to brush up on my math and take another practice test. If I think I can get a 36 I’m going to go for it.
