I just received my scores for the January SAT and found that I got the same score as last time–1430. Although superscored, my score would be 1460. When I took the ACT I got a 32 without studying in December. Do you think it is possible for me to get a 34+ if I spend March studying and take it in April?
I also got a 1460 on the PSAT, which in theory means I should have gotten a 1500 on the SAT, which I got a couple times on practice test, but evidently was unable to get on the SAT.
I understand that these scores are good, but I want to take away the possibility of them hurting me in applications at a top 30 school. Thanks!
Yes. I wholeheartedly believe ACT is much easier.
It mightve just been my tests, but i got a 36 on act and 1520 sat
Yes. I took the SAT many times and could not break a 2100. If you can’t raise your score, you probably can’t raise it with more studying. (I took practice tests for three years for the SAT but it NEVER rose to over a 2100.) I was frustrated for months and filled with angst since I had a good GPA, but raising my SAT score was impossible.
I studied for the December ACT (the last act that colleges accept) and got a 35 first try and got into a top 3 school. If you’re getting a 32 without any studying, this is a good sign. It is so much easier to raise your ACT score than the SAT since ACT tests more of what you learn in school.
Yes. My D did substantially better on the ACT.
I’ll ditto everyone else, I think the ACT is markedly easier, as long as you fit the test’s style which takes a little more speed. I’d advise prepping for it a fair amount, and going in and killing it; it can’t hurt. You’ve already got scores that could get you in at top 30 places, if the rest of your application follows.
Thank you all for your advice! This completely relieves my frustration!
Looks like I might make the switch too!
ACT is by far much easier
calculator math for all of it and the science section is basically free if you can read a graph
