I really don't want to take a math class next year because I would like room for other classes. At the end of this year, I will have taken up through precalc and I'm also taking AP Stats. I know I will have enough credits, but should I still take Calculus next year? I'm thinking of studying Archaeology or Anthropology in college and I was wondering if not taking anything math related senior year would hurt my chances of getting accepted.

Do a search in CC for courses you could take for studying Archaeology or Anthropology. Here is it topic you may find helpful. Based on that it won’t hurt you for not taking Calculus if you take a good AP course relevant to your major. If you haven’t taken AP Chemistry, consider taking it. And make sure you meet course requirements, some colleges require 3 or even 4 years of math.

Statistics is generally more useful for social studies than calculus, but it is possible that a social studies major will need to take a more in-depth statistics course than AP statistics; such statistics courses usually have calculus as a prerequisite.

You may want to check the major and requirements of your intended majors and the general education requirements at the colleges you are considering. If calculus is required, or statistics that requires calculus is required, it is likely more worthwhile to take AP calculus over AP statistics.

If you are concerned about holistic reviewers looking at the rigor of your schedule, they are likely to see AP calculus BC > AP calculus AB > AP statistics.
