a senior i know told me that she took numerous ap courses throughout high school but never took any of the ap tests in may. she says that there really is no point in taking them because there are placement tests at college orientation that are for free…
is there a second opinion on this at all?
should i take ap tests?

AP tests, if you do well in them, will let you get out of a basic college course. . Placement tests at orientation are just to test your basic knowledge and see where you should be placed with other students- you wouldn't be given credit for courses like you would for AP.

.. I could be wrong though . .

there may not be a test at orientation for the subject you need. Also, you'll be a lot busier during orientation than you will be in May, so this would be a good thing to get out of the way. The only reason not to take the AP exam as a senior would be if the college you will attend does not give AP credit for that subject regardless of score.

Definitely take the ap tests. Depending on where you're going to college you could get college credits for them if you do well and you would have to take less classes.

Check the college you want to go to first! I checked and some of mine only require a "3" while others require "5" and others won't accept them at all. If you think you can get a 3 I think it would be worth taking. They also have CLEP tests which are kinda like them, i don't know much about them though. try searching CLEP on this forum.
