Next year I'm taking AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Comparative Government/AP Econ, AP Psychology, and regular english. I'm debating whether I should take AP Lit and maybe drop AP Physics? I know that AP Physics looks great, especially in a pair with AP Calc BC, but as of now I want to major in either business, law, or corporate law. The AP Lit class at my school is super hard, and I will probably get a B, I could still get a B in physics, but I would have a better chance of getting an A in that class. Which will colleges like better, considering my major, and will the AP Lit experience truly enhance my writing schools to a point that college will not? Thanks!

Have you had AP Lang? What did you get there? If you did well, no need to take AP Lit, which will take more time than you probably have with that schedule.

My D did not take AP Lit as it is useless for Engineering. She took a honor course on Humanities which is a double credit course for both English and Social Science. She really enjoyed that class although it is not really easier than AP Lit. My point is to think about whether the credit is useful or not, will it affect your GPA, and will you enjoy the class.

I have not taken AP Lang, I think I will enjoy the class, but it will be A LOT of work, and I’ll have to sacrifice one of my other classes because I have a lot of other stuff going on.

Then, take AP lang rather than AP lit :)

^^^ Yes, that should be the right sequence.

AP Lang over AP Physics since you want to be a lawyer. Law school is lots of writing and reading.

I can’t take AP Lang, it’s AP Lit

You need to do a little research. If you’re after college credit hours, I’d take AP Lit. I would check the schools you are considering to see if a 4 or 5 will exempt you from freshman English. However, most schools my Ds applied to discouraged using AP sciences to fulfill requirements, especially if you have to take another science. But then you may not have to take another science if your major is not STEM. Again…spend some time looking the colleges you are considering.

habibisam, are you saying your high school offers AP lit, but NOT ap Lang?

ap lang is only for juniors

Why didn’t you take it - and why do you want to take Lit this year?
Is there any way you could take AP lang (see with GC)? Colleges don’t care whether you take AP Lang as a junior or a senior.
