I am a junior and I'm enrolled in PreCalc I Honors and to be in calc for senior year, PreCalc II is required. I can take it over the summer, so then I can be in Calc for my senior year. Should I do it if I want to major in BioTech/Chemical Engineering in college? Does it look bad on colleges if I have precalc instead of calc on my senior year schedule?

Calc is too easy, take pre-algebra. Thats actually pretty hard. I am a senior and im taking it.

Pre-algebra is either a 6th or 7th grade course. Calculus is a 12th grade course. I GUESS YOUR STATEMENT COULD BE TRUE CONSIDERING THAT I HAVE A BETTER GRADE IN CALCULUS THIS YEAR THAN MY PRE-ALGEBRA GRADE IN 7TH. Did you mean Linear Algebra by any chance?

@monolithium Just what is Pre-Cal II exactly?

@York00 My school combines Algebra 2, Trignometry, and Pre-Calc into a two year course, PreCalc I & Precalc II

If the summer program isn’t going to be too taxing on you, go for it. It’s interesting to note that many of those who took calculus in high school take it again in college.

If you don’t take precal II over the summer, then having a strong interest in science would be excellent.

I would recommend taking Calc during highschool so you’ll be prepared for your college Calc.

@York00 - No, Calculus is so much easier. I mean, integration by parts is so much easier than solving such a difficult equation such as 2+x=1.
