So, I got a 1440 on my SAT for the second time. 660 on English and 780 on math. The thing is, O feel like I wonimprove no matter how hard I try because I really suck in the English portion. I
m also applying early decision, so I wont have nearly enough time to study for the English portion. So, should I retake it even though my English portion most likely will not improve? And, I want to apply for ivy leagues, and I know this score may not be enough, so what should i do?
Retake is only for a better score. If you have already reached your plateau in practice and received the expected score, there is no point to retake. In other words, if you don’t think you can improve your score, there is no reason to retake.
Try the ACT instead.
A last minute switch to another test may be not a good idea either. It will take some time to prepare for a new test format. It would be a good idea if OP is in in junior or has done some ACT preparation already.
If you are not going to study to try to improve your score, then don’t bother taking it again.
If you are looking at a STEM Major, then don’t worry another second.
If you are a humanities major, start studying.
If your score doesn’t fit with your dream schools, choose more match and safety schools. Actually, choose more match and safety schools anyway. Even with perfect scores elite school admission is not easy for anyone.
