I got a composite score of 25 on the PLAN and an estimated ACT composite score of 27-31. Apparently my scores were in the 97th percentile nationwide (Go figure, I want an honest opinion, not trying to gloat). For the PLAN, I simply did one very short practice test a few weeks before to get an idea of the format. If I do an ACT, I'll probably do much more prep.

The weakest part for me was the Math section, where I worked up until the last minute, but did not finish. I obtained a score of 23, which was in the 88th percentile

Should I try taking an ACT (No writing) this June?

The ACT covers Algebra I and II, Geometry, and some Trig for math content. For comparison, the PLAN covers only Algebra I and Geometry. The Trig is a relatively minor amount of the test, so if you’re a sophomore who will be in Trig / Precalc as a junior, I wouldn’t worry too much about totally unfamiliar math content. If you won’t have Algebra II until next year, I’d expect that your math score might suffer.

Yes, just get a prep book PR first preferably and then Barrons. Go over the math section; the math was not hard but I found that the concepts were ones that I had learnt so long ago that I’d forgotten them! So just review and practice and you’ll be fine :)
