Should I take the ACT????

I am considering taking the ACT. My college counselor recommended just taking the SAT, but I'm not sure. I only scored a 25 on the plan, but that was from 10th grade. I scored a 197 on the PSAT in 11th grade and a 2000 on the March SAT. So far, I am just planning on taking the October SAT, seeing how I do, and retaking it in December. I am hoping to apply to Cornell, UPenn, NYU, etc, so I know my scores need to be higher. Do you think I would have better luck taking the ACT for a better score or should I just keep working on my SAT score???? Thanks!
Also- when is the next ACT after June?

Yes, a 2000 is not nearly high enough for the schools you listed.

The ACT is given every school year in September, October, December, February, April, and June. I’d give the ACT a shot - your 25 on the PLAN is a 25 out of 32, not 36 like the ACT. I don’t know how true this is, but ACT estimates that you can predict a two to four point increase in going from the PLAN to the ACT. While that is likely not to be enough for the schools you’ve mentioned, you may be able to eke out another point or two on top of this with good test strategies and by virtue of the classes you’ve had between the time you took the PLAN and now. Good luck!

Thanks for your help! Yes, I know my scores are too low for Cornell/UPenn, which is why I think I will take ACT in September, SAT in October, and retake any SAT 2s if necessary in November…
Thanks again!

Take the ACT. I hate this test though, but apparently it’s much easier.

Seriously, how does someone who’s taken 10 AP’s and is on the road to some excellent scores on the SAT II get lower scores than people who are clearly less bright?? Even after studying so much?

It’s a mystery…
