Should I take the C or take the D/F and get an A later? from CCC

Hey All,
My good friend had this question and it's a tricky situation so i need some good advice.

First off, it's already clear he should have taken the W so no need to say that.

He's doing accounting 1A and right now it looks like his grade is going to be a C (he's a bizz/econ major so accounting isn't a major pre-req for UCSD [the school he wants to go to]). Even though he's in a hole, do you think it would be wiser to just stick with the C...or take the D/F and get an A in the class over summer (cuz this professor sucks).

Thanks for everything

any help out there? pleease

That's a tough one; I think it depends on what he's actually going to end up with in the class. Personally, I think Ds look worse than Fs, so I'd pick the C over a D; if I were borderline D, I'd take the F. Also is he sure he can get an A when he retakes it? I think only an A would justify not taking the C. I'd just be concerned with this worst-case scenario: He gets a D and then retakes it and only gets a B - that'd look horrible.

he's taking the class over summer...he's pretty confident he can get an A..but yeah i know what you mean..that B would look terrible.
