Should I take the SAT in October or November?

Right now I'm scoring in the 2000-2100 range; highest for each section so far is Math - 700, Critical Reading - 700, Writing - 680, a nearly 300 point increase from the 1800's I had originally been scoring.

I am aiming for a score within the 2300 range: 800 in Math, a 740+ in Critical Reading, and a 780+ in Writing.

I am wondering if I shouuld take the SAT in October or November. If I take it in November, that would mean I have more time to prepare; however, the material will not be as "fresh" in my mind because I will also have school and that means homework, projects, tests, studying, etc. If I take in October, the material will be fresh, but I would only have 2 months - August and September - to prepare. Will 2 months be sufficient to raise it to 2300+? Based on your experiences, when do you sugggest that I should take the SAT?

I would take it in Oct. Once you start school, you get too busy to focus that much on SAT studying and believe me, if you don’t review frequently, the material definitely starts to become less “fresh” in your mind. So yeah, I would take the Oct SAT b/c then you remember more of the material, you can make the ED or EA deadline, and you get it over with earlier.

October, since it’s one of the three months of the year you can buy back the QAS.

What is a QAS? And how does purchasing it back benefit me?

It’s a copy of the test questions, your answers and the correct answers of the test administration. You see exactly what you got right and what you got wrong.

Oh. How much does it cost?

Around $17, I believe.

Based on my experience, it will be extremely difficult to raise score from a 2100 to the 2300 range in a two/three month period. Don’t set your goals too high, or you may be disappointed with the results at the end. Are you a rising junior or senior? If you’re going to be a senior, I suggest that you take the test as soon as possible.

lol calico what does “based on my experience…” mean?

Does it mean that you took more than 2-3 months to go from 21-23 or that you prepped in 2-3 months but didnt hit 2300. you’re a Harvard 2014 girl, arn’t you?

^ She will indeed be going to Harvard and scored 2350 if I recall correctly.

so…, how do you remember these things but not your own, recent posts?

^ I remember numerical things relatively well.

quick what was your 8888th post?
or post 622 in your SAT thread?

^ Ha ha. That would require a combination of numerical/verbal memories.

OK I just checked and post 622 in your SAT thread happens to be authored by me. lol
I vaguely remember that I mentioned a combination of post 615(also by me) and post 622 to advance some point, but then again, I don’t have to lugggg around over 9000 posts.

Sorry, I missed the conversation going on in this thread because I was browsing some other thread. Antonioray, you totally lost me with the whole post number discussion.

I said “based on my experience” because TRUFFLIEPUFF phrased it as “based on your experiences” in his question. It means that it definitely took me longer than two/three months to go from a 2100 to 2300ish---- in fact, now that I’ve thought about it, I think it might have taken years! I mean, it’s not like I randomly took the SAT for the first time some time at the end of my junior year and just magically got a satisfactory score— there was the PSATs before that when I had practice, and periodic exposure to the test now and then when I chose to do practice questions on my own.

Anyway, I hope that answered your question.

I am :D. Um, thank you for stalking me?

(I’m kidding.)

no i just remember things from here and there

Yeah, way to be wierd, antonioray. Next thing you know kids will be memorizing random people’s scores.

I remember stuff about you too silverturtle
like your Jan CR was only in the 97th percentile of IL, and that you once took an IQ test but your score was literally off the charts. You’d have to believe me that I didn’t go all the way back to Dec-Jan to track down your posts because as you know, your post history only goes back 14 pages and the 9th page contains posts posted 3 days ago.

I also remember that you busted me on the envy vs appreciated CR question in Jan 10, man I hated that passage about the girl and the tutor.

EDIT: heh, only in the 97th
