Should I take the SAT now?

Hi I'm a junior right now and I'm deliberately whether or not I should take the actual SAT right now. I'm going to Elite and my current score is around 1700-1800. I really want at least 2200~, but I also want to see I am at with the real SAT. Is it worth it taking the SAT right now, or do colleges like it better if you take it in one sitting and do a good job? Will it matter?

The colleges I want to go to are UCLA, USC, NYU, UCI, UCSD, or Stanford (meh).

take it!
my friends who went to elite got around 2000-2100 SAT scores at Elite and currently have 2380 superscores. Since you are a junior now, it might get a little late if you take it next year. You never know what’ll happen!

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. I feel that if I wait any longer too much stress will build up and I will end up killing myself. But I am also afraid that I will get a bad score and it will reflect badly on my chances to get into a good college. Advice?!

If you get a “bad” score, you don’t have to send it to colleges. You can definitely withold it and be fine! Honestly, I think that waiting until senior year is a terrible idea. What happens if some unexpected event (like a sudden death of a family member) prompts you to do even worse than you’d do now? If you’re up to it now, definitely take it thisyear! I’d assume you’re an AP student though, so remember to balance it well with the SAT subject tests that correspond to the classes in which you’re taking AP exams!
I honestly doubt you’ll get a bad score though. My prediction (based on friend’s performances, since I went to Excel) would be around 2050, although a few weeks of rigorous practice and reading Silverturtle should raise that ATLEAST 100 points!

Thank you. Your response has prompted me to sign up. Haha, the deadline is today. It is more expensive now though, yeah? $49 is a lot.
And yes, I am an IB diploma candidate. I’m so stressed with AP/IB tests and SAT II tests coming up.

Yeah it’s $49 now =( ridiculous, I know. But hey, that’s NOTHING compared to college fees. You’ll be glad you took it if something catastrophic DID happen though!
I’m on the same boat. In fact, I should be studying for AP’s now. =/

Oh well. Best of luck to the both of us!
