Hey guys, I'm new to posting here, but I've been in the forum for a while. So, I hope I didn't post this in the wrong sub forum.

Anyways, I'm going to be a junior this year and my brother will be taking the SAT in the Fall. My parents want me to take it with him, so that I can have more practice. I know that my score stands in the 1800-1900 range, and I also know that I can increase my score. So, the problem that I'm having is whether I should take the SAT test this fall or wait until maybe next year when I know that my score has improved.

I'm aiming for a 2100 and over, and I'm confused whether colleges will look at my previous score and my high score and shun me based on my previous low score. What should I do?

Taking it in the beginning of junior year is fine. I think it would be good practice. Colleges usually say that they look at your highest scores, but you never know what they really do, so its up to you.

You are in the Class of 2010, so you can pick which scores you can send to colleges. I think you should take the SAT this fall, but if the score is too low, you don't have to send it to colleges if you don't want to.

Also, since you won't be starting college until 2010, I think the new "report whichever scores you want" rule applies to you...

EDIT: ^^you got there before me

No harm at all due to the above-mentioned new rule.

I'm in the same situation. All my pratice test scores are around 1800-1900. I'm a rising junior too. But I don't have a brother, I plan to take it in November or December, October is too early for me. If the score is not good, retake in March.

Ohhhh ok, I see. Thanks a lot!
But, who creates this rule? and is there an official website that talks about this?

The rule comes from the website that administers the tests...

don't think twice, take it. The rules now work in your favor, and the experience, familiarity, and prepping, can only help you in any future retakes. good luck icecube.

Thanks again to all of you!
I will take it then
