ETS just ruined my life. They rescheduled my TOEFL, which should be today, to December 17th. I am sooo screwed. If I'm rejected/deferred for not having a TOEFL test score to demonstrate my English ability, I will be SO angry at ETS..

I have a similar story here.

I lived in US for 5 years and got 800 on Critical Reading and 710 on writing. I am taking AP English this year.

I asked the admission officer after the info session whether I should take the TOEFL. "should I take TOEFL?" I asked.

and he gave me this-is-the-most-ridiculous-question-I-have-ever-heard look, and said "Don't even bother. Don't waste your time and money in that thing." So I guess if you can demonstrate your mastery of English through some other way, that is going to be fine. I don't think TOEFL is going to be as critical as SAT if you live in US.

But you have a much better SAT1 score, and you have been here 3 more years than I have. I also take AP Lit/Comp, but not having a TOEFL for me, who only has verbal 660, can be an excuse for colleges to defer or reject me, which really scares me.

Take TOEFL then, not necessarily for college app, but for your mental health.

We are all on the same boat. 'Hope I helped a bit.
