Hi! I’ve been accepted to UPenn as a sophomore transfer - an amazing opportunity…Penn is amazing for premed, and has so many research opportunities. It’s much closer to home than my current school, and Philly is great. I’m hesitant to leave my current school - it’s a top 20 school with similar class size and student body (think Vandy, Emory, WashU), and also has amazing pre-med and research opportunities. I really love my current school, but Penn would let me explore compsci/math more as well as let me explore many more subjects than my current school - I’m aiming on studying neuroscience (possibly cognitive science, which my current school doesn’t offer). If I stayed at my current school, I’d have leadership opportunities and a really great lab set up for next year, a great major advisor, and a solid plan for the next three years. If I transferred, I’d be starting from scratch, but I think that Penn would be able to offer me more interesting research opportunities as well as more engaging clubs/extracurriculars. I’m also afraid of a tougher student body…I’m currently doing very well in my classes and don’t know how I’d do at Penn. My school also has a pretty happy student body and I know Penn’s stress culture is huge. At the same time, Penn was my dream school for a very long time and my parents are pushing for it…
Opinions would be much appreciated!! TIA
