Should I try for the new SAT?

I am an student thinking of applying next year. I’ve given the old sat twice and got a score of 2200 on my last attempt. However, I’m pretty sure I could improve my scores and get it into the 2300’s if I had another attempt left. Now since only the new sat is available to be given, I’m contemplating if I should go for the new one or not. Also, is the ACT a good alternative? Since Science and Math are my strong spots?
Any help is appreciated.

You might fare better on the ACT, but I suggest taking one practice ACT and one (new) practice SAT test, and seeing which test you do better on (or feel you can score better on by the time you take it).

Considering that the new SAT got much similar to the ACT, I would try the ACT. Honestly, I consider it highly unlikely for a student to get major score increase in a third sitting for the same test. People I know are scoring much better on the ACT than they did on the SAT because of a simple fact: the ACT is much closer to what you have been doing during all your high school life. If your strong spots are math and science and conditions that time is not a major problem for you in standardized tests, give a shot to the ACT. I believe its questions are much more straightforward and, being a test that hasn’t changed much in the past years, there are tons of study materials and practice tests. You certainly can’t say the same about the New SAT…
