should S send ACT score?

Hi...

trying to decide if S should include ACT score in college App's or just SAT
He will be applying to UNC in state

SAT taken twice , CR 600 M 650 W 620 oct junior yr
CR 600 M 660 W 620 June, junior year
will take again in october

ACT taken june Junior yr :
Eng 30 M 26 Read 23 Sci 27 Composite 27 Combined Eng/Writing 26
writing subscore 06
probably won't retake, just not enough time...

Other info: GPA 4.4
7 AP classes
Great EC's

Thanks...

I would recommend the ACT.
a 30 out of 36 correlates to a 2000 in SAT terms.

I don't see much advantage to sending the ACT scores. According to the concordance tables on the ACT website ACT-SAT Concordance the SAT scores are a little bit better. At best, they could be seen as roughly equivalent. Sending the ACT scores along with the SAT scores would show consistency from one test to the other, but is that worth the money it would take to send two sets of scores?

The site supports by thesis that his ACT is better.
It won't hurt to send both though, colleges will use what helps the applicant most.

if you look at the OP's post, the composite score is a 27 not a 30.

I am guessing the only score that is going to be helpful to him is the 30 on English. Does this coincide with the CR portion of the SAT? If the Reading section of the ACT is more comparable to the CR section, it seems it would be better not to send???

Oh, I'm sorry. Most people post their Composite first, thats why I mistook your Eng 30 as the composite.

Sending SAT with be better; 1880 vs 1800(SAT equivalent of the ACT)
