Hey, not only do I not know if I should apply using paper or online (see my other thread)... but I dont know what to do about this here resume.

I have heard of/ seen many individuals using a resume to show their extracurrics and achievements and awards.

I am applying to many top tier schools (stanford, Harvard...). I want to fully show my achievements, and I dont think the common app form online really allows me this flexibility.

Do schools like getting resumes? Do they all take them? Can you do them online? Can you apply online and submit a resume via snail mail? Is it worth applying using paper so I can include a resume.

I just dont want schools to see "service work- 4 years"--- when I could explain it in more specific terms.

Thanks, Jacob

hi...I know that everyone at my school attaches a resume. Our school kind of requires it. I dont think it can hurt you...only some universities and colleges that have lots of applicants like to read less. Its good way to organize everything that you've done though. I think I would do it, except for in the case that the school asks you not to. Hope this helps : )

im having the same issue.....
and keepingitsecret02, does that mean everyone in your school is sending in via snail mail?

ummm no i think there are deff some people applying online but also sending in resumes. i just decided not to apply online to any schools b/c they cut off your essays, plus i've heard all those horror stories about things not going through.

Then how do the people who send it online get in their resumes... just via regular mail I assume?

Your counselor sends it in with the secondary school report, methinks.

i guess they just send it regular mail. although, i thought that sending both reg mail and online was discouraged b/c then the college might start 2 different files for your application instead of just one, it gets confusing.

Anybody else got resume input?

Hey... you do have to send some stuff snail mail and some online, second school report, recs... all have to do snail mail

So if I want to describe and illustrate my achievements in details, what should I do in the common app? ( I heard that a resume is like…arrogant).

^You should still fill the common app; the Activity List is there for you to highlight your achievements. There’s an additional section to elaborate all the details.
^^ You can send a resume online. Just upload your resume on the Additional Info.

I am not sending one. I think I represent myself well through the activities section, and I want to be pithy.
