I'm qutting my restaurant job. i hate that place and don't want to bother to tell the manager. but should I?

I think you should. I hear some jobs require comments or consulting from your previous job and having the courtesy to tell your boss you’re leaving may or may not leave a good impression. But not doing so will do more harm than good. It doesn’t take much effort. On your last day at the restaurant, just tell your boss at the end of your shift.

Give a 2 weeks notice! It gives the restaurant time to start looking for a replacement to train to take your place. It would be completely inconsiderate to just quit without any notice at all. Employers don’t hold it against you if you quit, but they might if you don’t do so gracefully.

Yes, two weeks notice is standard, polite notice.

Give two weeks notice.

My aunt has been a manager in several convenience stores and it makes her very angry when people don’t give two weeks notices. IE: If they ever want to work there again, they will not be or if they want to work somewhere else, she won’t give them a good recommendation, which means they won’t be able to work somewhere else.

AU and q hit it on the nose. Many, many employers WILL call your previous employers before hiring you. They don’t want inconsiderate workers who just stop coming to work. Plus, it’s just a crap thing to do. You’re not only screwing over your manager, you’re screwing over every single person you work with because they’re now short-staffed. Don’t be a donkey.
