raises hand

Does anybody know whether they have any requirements for the teacher recs, or if we can just ask anyone for one (i.e. what subjects does “academic subjects” encompass?)?

…I doubt I’m going to get in though because I’m an out-of-stater.

Don’t doubt yourself. Don’t scare me too much either…
Anyway, I think academic subjects mean just that. Math, science, social studies, and English teachers should all be fine. I wouldn’t risk it with an elective teacher, although foreign language instructors might be okay.

i was going to apply but have heard things about UMKC almost losing accreditation and being underfunded

I agree with the underfunded part. However, I have also heard UMKC does a great job educating physicians with the great clinical experience and the docent system. I haven’t found anything to support UMKC losing accreditation. If you do, please link to it!

I’m in the process of applying.

I’m in-state BTW.

Does anyone know how strict they are in requiring 1 unit of fine arts?

No idea, I’d suggest emailing them.

hey addon what’s your AIM sn?

I sent you a PM calccobra.

Edit: Looks like your message box is full. It’s mkivsupra9.

Email Mrs.Morgenegg. She might be a little late to reply though, as you can imagine they are extremely busy this time of year.

I am also applying this year. Does anyone know when you could be contacted for interviews?

They’ll contact you in December.

Offers for interviews are extended from December thru early March. Usually they interview in-state applicants first, followed by out-of-state. If you haven’t heard by early February give them a call and see if they can give you a status on where you stand.

i just sent in my application a week ago to umkc ba/md program. i’m instate and i actually applied last year but got wait listed so i’m re-applying. i’m really familiar with the application process and the interview if anyone has any questions.

called them today; they are trying to do interviews in January this year.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew wat the avg score for the ACT is for admitted students???

nc101 can you please give me a breakdown of the interview and how it starts, what you do, what kind of questions they ask, etc.

Heart Surgeon123. The interview takes a whole day. Last Year we had a problem with the people scheduled to interview us so things were different on my day, but what you do is watch a movie on the school of medicine followed by the one hour chemistry exam. The exam is over basic chemistry so it’s nothing to be worried about and even if you do not pass the exam you can still be admitted to the school as long as you take a prerequisite course over the summer. Then you get interviewed by two different people. The questions are pretty straightforward they ask why you want to be in medicine, how often you study a week, why you feel you would be a good candidate, what other schools that your looking at, etc. They also asked me about a personal conflict i went through and how i resolved it. it’s different for every person it’s just random stuff. You just have to be honest and show your dedicated. They interview hundreds of kids every year and can see through and tell how honest your being and they’ve heard the “i want to help people” hundreds of times, so just be careful about what you say. Keep me posted on when you get your interview. I called Mary Anne today and she said they were going to do all of the interviews in January and February.
