sick of seeing support our troops ribbons

I'm a male chauvinist, beat me up.

beats up :p

Joev, maybe my rant was inspired by the numerous remarks you've made regarding women and their roles in society. If you were merely joking, then I apologize. At 28 years old, however, I would think these remarks were beyond you.

^^^Like it, but I've heard it too much.

OK, I'm going to say a few semi-intelligent things now, so as to actually contribute. I bet I'll make some grammatical errors and look like an idiot. Good thing I don't have to care. I love the internet.

With regard to the original topic: I don't think there is any American who does not support the troops. To say "support our troops" is clearly not an issue. The problem is, people say it as an attack on people who don't support that war, which is despicable. They are, in essence, saying "if you disagree with me, you want Americans to die." This accomplishes nothing, impedes real debate and progress, and just makes pro-war citizens look like a bunch of stupid *s. Which they are not. Just some of them (there are just as many stupid *s on the other side).

With regard to the more recent topic, whether women should be drafted, I'm going to just throw something into the mix. I'm not going to beat around the bush: men make better soldiers than women. Sexist? By definition, yes. True? By biology, psychology, and common sense, yes. Flame me all you want. You know it's true. So, while I believe men and women have equal obligation to their country, I think if there were a draft, it would be in the nation's best interest to only draft men.

I tend to blur the line of joking and reality a lot more on message boards when talking on message boards, the fact is that I love women and all the good they do for families and America. I just take issue sometimes with people who think that they "don't need a man to raise no baby" or those who think that females have a right to do with an unborn child without the input of the man then turn around and complain about child support from "deadbeat dads."

Man I have like 4000 jokes I could tell right now, both racial, sexist, and otherwise, but I have been flamed enough tonight. :)

Sorry if it annoys you that I take so much offense at an "innocent" joke. I'll say it outright-- I am a feminist. That doesn't mean I'm a freak who burns bras and doesn't shave, it means that I believe in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. Quite frankly, you should too. You can have your own opinions on the war and even if I don't agree, I will respect your views. But if I see the fallacious conception that women are inferior to men, I'm going tell you, YOU ARE WRONG. But I guess there's no point, I guess a man will always considered to be better than a woman.

Wise choice, joev:)

But alas, tomorrow is another day.......

This exact belief is what has kept many stand up comics employed over the years. In most respects men and women are equal. But there are glaring differences.

Generally men are ALOT stronger than women, but a man has never given birth to a baby.

Women are usually better nuturers by nature, but this is do to the fact that women usually suckle the infant child, and you cannot be rough while doing this. That is why moms are always telling dads to be careful with the baby.

Women are better receptionists and secretaries than men. This is not by design, it is just a fact. 99.99% of secretaries are women, and you know what you call a male receptionist? a security guard

I would go on but I am sick of thinking right now, this thread has worn me out!

haha i like it.

Yeah so let's continue with the belief that men are better than women for the sake of stand up comics....... ::rolls eyes::

A lot of people joke about women, different races, homosexuality..... and perhaps it can be funny sometimes to some people. I just think if you want to be taken seriously, try to refrain from doing that. It starts of as joking, but gradually people start to believe in the ideas. Joev you, yourself said that you are a male chauvenist. So as I guessed, your joking does reflect your beliefs. I'll keep in mind that I need to go buy a sense of humor, but incase you haven't figured it out by now, joking like that publically to people who don't know you and will judge you solely based on what you say, that stuff is offensive.

I also find it really offensive that "gay" has been thrown around so much in this thread in such a derogatory manner. Just thought I'd say that.

Remember that one Simpson's epidsode when Nelson kissed Lisa, and his buddy Jimbo found out and stated: "You kissed a girl, that is so gay!"

macro-your posts only fuel my desire to needle you.

I know. Why should I expect you to take me seriously? My opinions are silly. Afterall, matters that do not directly concern you are ok to make fun of.

Don't worry though, I'll just stop it here. My intention was to open people's minds for the better. Can't say I didn't try.

You need to take a valium or a xanax.

To anyone who cares to answer: if you were an eighteen-year-old male in Germany in 1941, and you were called upon to serve in the armed forces, would you?

In other words, how far does one's duty to one's country extend?

meateater, are you kidding me. Why are you so disrespectful She just said she was finished. She was just speaking her opinion. You are really making yourself out to seem like an *******. Why do you feel the need to be condescending. I dont have a problem with jokes, but was it really necessary to tell her to take a valium or xanax. Do you really need to be a prick?

Yes, I do. Do I care at all what people on these boards think about me? Nope, not in the slightest. I like speaking my mind anonymously to other anonymous people, it's liberating. Plus, suggesting that somebody take a valium is doing them a favor, they're quite nice.

The republican party should be ashamed of its fellow supporters here.
